Welcome

Thank you for visiting my site. Each doll is lovingly made by reborn/newborn artist Donna Davidson. My goal is to post my beautiful dolls on this site for you to enjoy. If you are interested in adopting one of them please feel free to email me to see if he/she is still available. I am also willing to work with you to make a special baby just for you.

Reborning is a process of taking a play doll and thoroughly removing existing paint and hair, and then to use artistic painting and other processes the doll is transformed into a one of a kind work of art. The doll is no longer a toy for a child, it is an heirloom to pass down from generation to generation.

Newborning is the process of taking a vinyl kit that has been sculpted by a talented artist, apply layer after translucent layer of Genesis Heat Set Paints until it takes on all of the qualities of an actual infant. The artist then applies high quality mohair using a special rooting needle, and assembles the doll to look and feel like a real infant or small toddler. It takes a very long time to complete one of these works of art but it is a labor of love. Each one is very special and unique.

(It is typical to use the term "reborn" for both processes.)

I do have a Yahoo Group. It is called Reborn Dolls Chicago. Please check us out and feel free to join!

News

One of my reborn dolls will be appearing as an "actor" in the play "A Winter's Tale" performed by the Chase Park Theater. I suppose starting off as a Shakespearian actor isn't that bad. OK, it's not a talking part, but it's a perfect role for a reborn that really looks like a baby.

Check out their Web site at: Chase Park Theater, Chicago

Sunday, November 23, 2008 I will be displaying some of my reborns at an Illinois Doll, Toy, and Bear Show. Click here and here for more information. It will be at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville. Their directions can be found here.

Please stop by and say "hi".
